Spring TrainingSpring 2017 Training Opportunities!

We are excited to share about two great training opportunities for parents in the Calgary area this spring!

  1. Empowered to Connect Simulcast 2017 – On April 7th and 8th, First Alliance Church is hosting the Empowered to Connect Simulcast (What is ETC? – see here for more info). This event features the teaching of instructors from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, and is geared towards adoptive and foster parents, caregivers and professionals (teachers, social workers) working with children from hard places, as well as extended family and close friends of adoptive/foster families who are wanting to better understand and support their loved ones. Come experience practical teaching in a safe and supportive community as we work to equip families, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care. Featuring Trust-Based Relational Intervention® methods developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, this conference helps bring attachment and connection in families. Registration and More information

  1. T4A Canada 2017 – On May 12th and 13th, Centre Street Church in Calgary is hosting the Together for Adoption Conference. This is a national conference that exists to build a community of foster and adoptive families in Canada and to encourage and equip those families as they care for vulnerable children. There are a couple of in-depth pre-conference sessions focussed on parenting children from hard places, and the keynote speakers include Ann Voskamp, Joyce Rees, and Phil Callaway! You can find more information about the various breakout sessions and register at Together4Adoption Canada.

Colleen is on the planning committee for both events. If you have specific questions about either one, feel free to email her at Colleen {at} raisingmom.ca!
